Sovereign Hyperscale: China Invests $295B in National AI Infrastructure
The computing power race is moving to the level of state planning. On June 9, 2026, details emerged regarding Beijing's preparation of an unprecedented investment package worth $295 billion (around 2 trillion yuan) to build a nationwide AI infrastructure.

This move is a direct macroeconomic response to US actions (chip embargoes) and massive investments by Western Big Tech (Alphabet's recent $80 billion stock issuance). The PRC State Council's plan involves building a network of data centers and computing hubs relying entirely on the local supply chain (including ByteDance’s RISC-V processors and Huawei’s chips). China is forming a completely independent, closed loop of technological sovereignty, capable of supporting the training of frontier models without the involvement of American or Taiwanese silicon.
