The architecture consists of 10 satellites carrying around 40 specialized Nvidia Orin processors. Sophia Space became the first client of this cloud-based space infrastructure. The launch of this cluster solves a fundamental problem in the space industry: downlink bandwidth limits. Instead of beaming petabytes of raw imagery and telemetry back to Earth, satellites use onboard AI to analyze data on the fly, sending only processed insights to ground control centers. On-orbit inference is now a reality.
