Legal Shield: Microsoft Calls Copilot "For Entertainment Purposes Only"
The chasm between corporate marketing and legal reality has become public. On April 5, 2026, TechCrunch highlighted an update to Microsoft’s Terms of Use: officially, the Copilot tool is provided "for entertainment purposes only."

This is a brilliant, albeit cynical, move by Redmond’s lawyers. While the corporation sells AI infrastructure to governments (recall the recent $10B for Japan) and promotes autonomous agents for business, the B2C segment remains an unregulated minefield. By hiding behind the "entertainment" phrasing, Microsoft completely absolves itself of responsibility for any financial, medical, or technical errors (hallucinations) generated by the neural network. Users are explicitly told: do not rely on AI for critical tasks unless you have purchased a corporate Expert AI contract with a strict SLA.
